Wednesday's Walk Down Memory Lane - Zzzzzzz

It's Wednesday, and time to go for another walk down memory lane.
If you would like to know more, click on the above link, join in, or just read other's contributions.
Today's memory is about something that we all miss at times.
No matter our age, gender, position in life.
It is something that we long for......crave........daydream about....
Today, my "Walk Down Memory Lane" is all about
SLEEP
or lack of it!
A good night's sleep hasn't occurred for the adults in this house for such a long time, it is a very distant memory! When I was pregnant with Samuel, I had all the usual pregnancy things that caused me to wake in the night and toddle off to the bathroom. Then of course, Samuel finally arrived.......
The above photo is one of the very rare times Samuel actually slept in his own bed. The teddy bear was put there for the photo, but the "silky" was and is still the constant sleep companion for Samuel. He has to have it up against his cheek.
Probably for the first year of his life, Samuel slept in my arms. He did not like his cradle, he did not like his crib. He did like to sleep in Mummy's arms. I usually sat in our huge leather chair. We sang, we read books, we told stories, sometimes we dozed.
The few nights that Samuel actually slept through the night, in his own bed, I would wake-up every hour or so and go and check on him.
Now that Samuel is older, he does stay asleep many nights, but there are many nights that he will burrow in between Jim and I. He wraps his arms around my neck and sighs, "Sam's Mum".

Samuel does sleep, in fact he has a child's ability of falling asleep almost anywhere the mood strikes!

A few months ago I went to change over a load of laundry, walked back into the family room and this is what I found!

Fast asleep on the coffee table

Good night,
Sleep tight,
Don't let the bed bugs bite!

Oh how sweeeet! I love the coffee table pictures. Ipod in hand - too funny! :)

Yes, I understand - boy do I understand. I nurse off and on all night. But you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way. Sleep deprived and all, being a momma is the best! :)

Thanks for sharing about Samuel (I love the name by the way!) and your sleepless nights. Us moms, we can relate.

Awe, such adorable pictures! I can totally relate to every bit of it! But I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Too precious! I do think lack of sleep is highly under-rated. :) Yet it is sooo worth it.

That is so cute! I wouldn't have guessed that Sam could be that still. ;-)

Speaking of sleep,...when I sleep I still dream that I am having babies,... or that I am a mama to a little one. Those days pass quickly! Treasure every sleepless night with your little ones,...and every day too.

Love, Linda,...(a grandma who remembers the days when her girls were little,...and misses them!)(:>)

Precious memories. Our little ones slept in my arms too. If not in my arms then in our bed. At 54 I am finally making myself get a goods night sleep. Not sure I can make up for all those lost hours, but the memories have been worth all the sleepless nights.

My youngest is 15, and I just started sleeping through the night last year!!!! She would join us in our bed until she was 4 but even after that, she would wake me up when she went downstairs for water or just a bathroom trip!!! She still doesn't exactly sleep through the night, but I no longer wake up when she gets up...it sure is nice to sleep!!!

That is just the cutest thing ever!! I remember many a sleepless nights, or sleeping in my chair holding my baby. When I think I may want to have another baby, I remember what it's like to get absolutely no sleep, and I say to myself, "Are you crazy?" LOL!! I'd do it all over again though, because the blessings have been so worth it!

That's hilarious! My mother-in-law tells stories of how my hubby used to fall asleep anywhere when he was little. They never knew where they'd find him next!

Such cute pics! I understand the little sleep. My 7 month old isn't big on sleeping either. He likes his Mommy!!!

That is so cute, He has gotten so big! We are a house that totally understands about NO sleep! What the bad part is, it isn't my babies keepingus up, it is my daughter who is 2 now! It is so crazy how that works. My boys sleep GREAT! Even my 5 month old sleeps amazing! Takes regular naps and sleeps 10 hours most night before waking to eat. NOt Nevaeh though! She is up usually about 1 am crawling into our bed. Crazy huh!

Awww! That's so sweet! I must admit, I'm voluntarily sleep deprived. heehee. I'm a huge night owl, and if I'm caught up in doing something, 3:30 am can come waaaay to quickly! :) Samuel is so cute! I love that picture!

I am having a contest on my blog and giving away a prize to the person who can give me the best new blog name. I've been wanting to rename it, but can't think of anything good, so I thought I'd leave it to the experts. ;) Make sure to stop by and give me your ideas! Your blog name is pure genius! :D

Have a wonderful day,
--Abigail
