Here's Pie in Your Eye

Wednesday evening we went to Blue Heaven for dinner.  It is one of our favorite places to eat in Key West.  Great food, great service and great atmosphere.
 Love their banana bread.
Thankfully they are only a block or so from where we staying, so we can restock our supply of banana bread.
 Tristen having breakfast.
What is he having??
Banana bread of course.
Mmmh?  What new wardrobe addition does Tristen have??
Big hint.  Sam picked it for his nephew.
They are green.
Tristen has come over to the Croc side.
Joshua, Courtney and Tristen went to the Key West Butterfly Conservatory
We hoped that there wouldn't be a repeat of the Great Butterfly Massacre of 2007.
We will not mention the details.
Apparently, stories had been passed down from butterfly to butterfly.
They heard the name Purdy and chose to swarm the most vulnerable one.
Poor Tristen was not impressed with the flocks of butterflies.
We all met up for lunch at Caroline's
on Duval Street.  Great food and very good service.
 Tristen playing peek-a-boo with Grandma.
We walked up and down Duval Street for a bit and then went back to the house and relaxed for a bit.  We needed to conserve our energy for the planned family fun in the evening.
Joshua and Courtney prepared a taste test to see if we really knew our sodas.
Jim was the only one that scored 100% correctly.
But, he wasn't quite so gleeful in his victory when we moved on to a new family game.
Pie in the Face first try.
Sam wanted to be hit in the face with a big glob of whipped cream.
 Courtney wasn't that impressed.
I made it through the first round,
Tristen just wondered what the heck was going on.
Yep, Sam thought it was great!
 Joshua...YES!!
 My turn,
It is all fun and games until Jim gets hold of the camera!!
Finally, after multiple rounds, Jessica finally lost her luck!!

So, just in case you missed it the first time.
And because this caused the most hilarity and uncontrollable laughter.
I will share it again.
We know how to have a good time.
Just wait and see what we have planned for tomorrow.
It may involve pirates and a lot of "aarghing."

Another Week In Paradise.

We are midway through our annual week down in the Florida Keys.
The week before Christmas, we pick a different spot in the Keys to stay.
This year we are staying in Key West at the Truman Annex.
 The entrance.
The outside of our town house.
The shared pool is just around the corner.
 View from the balcony.
 Living room.
 Back balcony.
 Jessica's room.
 Kitchen.
 Living Room.
 Looking up at the loft.
 Sam's room in the loft.
Sam's private hang out space in the loft.  He does share on occasion.
Josh, Courtney and Tristan's room - the beds are made up into a king bed.
 Sunday was fairly quiet.
Jim and Sam walked and walked.
Jim, Sam and Jessica walked and walked.
Courtney, Joshua and Tristan walked and walked.
Courtney, Joshua, Tristan and Jessica walked and walked.
Sally hobbled to the corner and then hobbled back to the house.
A fine time to have tendinitis in my Achilles tendon.

Monday also involved walking.  Fortunately, for me, it also involved swimming!  The pool is right by where we are staying.
Monday we took a trolley ride to look at all the Christmas lights.  Everyone has the Christmas spirit and we spent a lot of time waving back at people and wishing them Merry Christmas.  Jim and I chose to sit in the back row.

Below are a series of selfies.
I think they need a bit of practice!!
Hard to get a good photo of the lights, but, hope that you enjoy them anyway.
I loved the dolphins swimming across the roof.

I can't remember what we did yesterday.
Is that a good thing?

Today (Wednesday) we went to the beach.
See those 2 blobs out on the pier?  They are Jim and Sam exploring.
Sam seems to be gaining ground.
Can't see it here, but see those steps leading down into the water?
Sam is at the bottom of those steps.
That figure walking striding towards the steps?
That would be Jim.
This photo is Sally-Ann looking away and calculating if it would be quicker for her to hobble or to swim to the steps.
-
 Thankfully, neither was required.
This is Sally-Ann finding her calm place.
 Just checking again... head count...one...two...
Great playground by the beach.  Sam loves to climb.
We ate lunch at a restaurant by the beach.  This is the view we had looking outside.
This was my view inside the restaurant.
All silliness aside, this was a mega accomplishment for Sam today.
We actually sat through the entire restaurant experience without the aid of a iPad.
 Lunch.
Delicious.
Not much talking going on.
Would like to do it again tomorrow please.
Sam ate his lunch in stages.
This is between stages.
Hot dog, potato chips, bun and a nibble of pickle.
Another milestone.  Sam tried a pickle!!
Jim's empty plate.
Mine was similar.

Now we are back at the town home.  Looking forward to the rest of the evening.  Blue Heaven for dinner, Joshua and Courtney want us to participate in a soda taste test and then we may play a game of "Pie in the Face."
